Auckland : Opportunity Around Every Corner

Auckland – opportunity around every corner...

Auckland Harbour

The long, low descent over water to Auckland Airport sets the tone for what much of the city is about.  Take a look through your aircraft window to view the majestic green mountains and turquoise blue bay, and feel the tingle of excitement knowing you’ll soon be amongst it all.  Auckland is, in a word, exciting!

So much to see and do

As New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland combines a little of everything the rest of the country has to offer. The city centre offers a thriving retail scene peppered with cosy cafes and cool gelato bars – the perfect spots to recharge after a busy morning shopping.

Take the walk downtown to the harbour’s edge and gaze out over the water to see sailboarders and kite-surfers jostle for waves with commuter ferries. Then pull up a chair at one of the many waterfront restaurants and enjoy some of Auckland’s finest cuisine while the ocean laps at the peer and yachtsmen stroll past.

Of course there are plenty of well-known attractions that are worth taking the time to explore. And in Auckland, action and adventure are never far away.

Don’t just ride over Auckland Harbour Bridge – experience the view from the top with a bridge climb! Spend a morning at the Sky Tower in the city centre, then bungee-jump your way back to ground level! From a height of 192 metres you’ll reach speeds of 85 kilometres per hour – so you’re sure to arrive back at street level in record time.

A lot of lifestyle to offer

More than a tourist destination, Auckland has a lot to offer in terms of lifestyle. New Zealand ranks number 2 out of 149 economies for prosperity according to the Legatum Institute’s 2017 Prosperity Index.

Almost nine out of ten New Zealanders value ties with Asia, and the country is ranked second in the world for business friendliness. Importantly, New Zealand’s eight universities rank in the top 3% globally according to the QS World University Rankings.

Whether you are visiting New Zealand to play or stay, it won’t take long to realise that Auckland is a city where opportunity truly knocks around every corner.

Unwind and rediscover relaxation

With all that adrenaline unleashed, unwind at glorious Kohimarama Beach in the city’s north-east. The water is azure blue, and it’s possible to wade out a few hundred metres and still only be up to your knees in water, so it’s a very safe destination for children and non-swimmers.  Towel off and head around the corner along Tamaki Drive to Mission Bay. The streets are lined with hip cafes and the waterfront park is the perfect spot for an outdoors lunch – and to take a selfie with one of the majestic black swans that call the bay home.

Close enough to visit

One of the wonderful aspects of Auckland is that it is close enough to easily access a range of other destinations. Take a day trip to Matamata for instance and experience the Hobbiton movie set from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The local scenery alone is worth the drive – so green, so lush!

Or stay in Auckland and enjoy golf, dolphin tours, whale watching tours, wine tastings, Māori cultural tours…the list is endless.
